There are two models of electric oven: the bench, with a smaller capacity, but portable and without the need for any installation, and the built-in, which is very similar to the gas stoves we know, but which needs installation and, often, different electrical wiring.

The electric oven is the most suitable if you already have a cooktop at home, for example, and you need an oven to make cakes, pies, and some roasted meat or vegetarian recipes. If your family is large and you prefer to use electricity than plumbing or gas cylinders due to leaks, for example, you can opt for the built-in electric oven, which can have a capacity of up to 90 liters.

Keep an Eye on Capacity

Speaking of capacity, it is very important to think about it to know how to choose an electric oven without making a mistake. Appliances of this type with 10 liters of capacity are recommended for those who live alone and intend to make not very large roasts, which fit in smaller shapes.

The ovens between 18 and 30 liters are great for couples and those with 40 liters or more serve large families. Some, even being a countertop, already come with two grills, so you can bake two dishes at the same time.

On the other hand, if you are going to purchase a built-in oven, you will not need to think much about capacity. They are naturally large and some even have, for example, 84 liters.

Think of The Recipes You Will Prepare 

It is important to think about the recipes that you will prepare to know how long the electric oven will be on and how much it will influence your electric bill. It is true that this type of oven can keep the temperature constant for longer than the conventional oven, but even so, leaving a 2800W electric oven on for 1h30, for example, can greatly increase your bill.  So, think if your goal with the electric oven is to prepare fast dishes or prepare more complex dishes and see if it’s worth it.

Pay Attention to Voltage and Installation 

If your purchase is an electric bench oven you will have to pay attention to the voltage and fit it correctly, either in a 110V or 220V outlet. If it is an electric built-in oven, the situation is a little more complicated. Some models of these ovens require a lot of energy, as we talked about in the previous topic, so you will need special wiring and socket.

This means that if your kitchen is not prepared for it, you will have to change all the wiring or give up the purchase. These ovens, in most cases, require wires and sockets of 20 amps.
